Moonlight Walk For Willowbrook Hospice

Local people are being encouraged to put their best feet forward by registering for the 2017 Moonlight Walk which takes place on Saturday 10 June.

Every year hundreds of people take part in the event walking through the streets of St Helens and Knowsley with flashing pink bunny ears, cowboy hats, tutus etc…all to help raise funds for Willowbrook Hospice.

Diane Humphreys, Senior Fundraiser at Willowbrook says: “The Moonlight Walk is a fantastic event for all the family! Although a lot of participants walk to remember their loved ones, many just to walk for fun and to soak up the atmosphere as they help raise vital funds to support the hospice.

“As it’s Willowbrook’s 20th anniversary we’ve decided to include a special ‘colour splash’ as part of the walk…so prepare to get messy as our team of volunteers cover you from head to toe in multi coloured powder! But don’t worry if you don’t want to take part in the ‘Colour Splash’ – there is a ‘Non Colour Splash Zone’!.

“This year we’re setting a fundraising target of £40, 000 for the Moonlight Walk which is the equivalent of funding 87 hours of care at the hospice. Any donations entrants can raise through sponsorship can really make a huge difference so please ask friends, family and work colleagues to support you.”

There are two Moonlight Walk routes to choose from-10km and 6.5km – both of which will start at 9pm from Willowbrook – The Living Well and take you through St Helens and Knowsley, passing Willowbrook Hospice along the way.

To get walkers in the mood, entertainment will be provided by DJ Terryokee, dancers from the Jan Williams Theatre School and the Anvil Street Drummers.

Just before the start of the walk, there will be a chance for people to remember and celebrate the lives of their loved one with a special balloon release.

Entry is just £15 for adults and £5 for children 16 years and under and includes a Moonlight Walk t-shirt, souvenir medal, refreshments on route and on completion of the challenge. To register either ring 01744 453798 or sign up online at
