St Helens College welcomed renowned top chef, Mike Bullard, and pastry chef, Amber Turner, to their award-winning restaurant, Colours, for the latest Guest Chef Dinner.
Mike and Amber, from The Butchers Social restaurant in Arden, worked alongside staff and students, to prepare and deliver a locally sourced feast for the lucky diners.
The menu included Parsley Snails, Ox Heart, Monks Beard and Rump. Alongside Mike, they were pleased to also welcome back to the kitchen, James Holden, who was on hand to mentor students.
Terry Lavin, Head of Hospitality and Tourism, said: “These events offer a valuable opportunity for our catering and hospitality students – working alongside top industry chefs, producing a fine dining menu which needs to be delivered to uncompromisable standards. It allows them to establish strong links with industry whilst gaining an honest insight into what a future career in fine dining will hold. Employability is a core skill that we nurture with our students and these kind of events are a welcome addition to any CV.”
The Guest Chef Dinners have now been running for over a year, and they’ve been graced by some amazing chefs, including Paul Heathcote, Paul Askew, Steven Doherty and James Holden.
These events have gone from strength to strength with tickets selling out in a matter of hours and this latest event was no exception.
