St Helens Library Service is delighted to announce the very first St Helens ‘Fun Palaces’ at Haydock Library on Saturday 7th October.
‘Fun Palaces’ is a movement, promoting community at the heart of culture with an annual weekend of arts and science action created by, for, and with local people.
Ordinary people from Haydock and the surrounding areas will give up their time to showcase individual and sometimes unique talents and skills, and will share them with other members of the community.
The event, which runs from 10am until 3pm, is suitable for all ages and features a range of activities throughout the day to inspire arts and culture, including: free verse poetry workshop with Lynn Gerrard, Waggy
Tales session with the Therapy Dogs, football skills with the Haydock Hurricanes, and a sing-a-long with the U3A ukulele group.
St Helens Council’s Cabinet Member for Library Services, Councillor Sue Murphy, said: “Fun Palaces is a great way to join in no matter what your age, enabling you to make links with other members of the local community.
Activities throughout the day are hands-on, fun and free – so pop into Haydock Library and take part in our varied programme.”
