Pete Is The People’s Choice

Pete Humphreys from Newton-Le-Willows is an amazing artist and the last year has been a fantastic one for him.

He held his first solo exhibition at The World of Glass Arts and Heritage Centre to critical acclaim.

The work he created featuring celebrities was met with much enthusiasm by the celebrities themselves. Local actresses Carley Stenson, Emma rigby as well as Hollywood A-Lister Russell Crowe loved his work!

More recently a painting of Robert Downey Jr as his Ironman character was shared by the star on his Facebook page

We spoke with Pete who said “I’m Thrilled to have won the People’s Choice award at this year’s Open Art Competition, especially as I also won 2nd Prize overall”

“The standard of art this year was very high and I am so happy to be a part of such a creative hub in St.Helens”

“My Michael Gambon painting won the People’s choice and my Self Portrait won 2nd prize”

“As well as these prizes I have also recently been signed and am now represented by one of the best Art publishers in the world, Demontfort Fine Art.”

“It is a very exciting time for me and my career as an Artist is really taking off. I have paintings in galleries all over the country from Scotland to London to the Isle Of Man.”

“I really have to thank The World of Glass, Ron, Hannah, Mark, Paul and Laraine for encouraging me to hold an exhibition of my works late last year which led to many celebrity visits and endorsements”

“I still can’t believe I met Martin Murray and received such high praises from Carley Stenson, Emma Rigby and Russell Crowe.”

“The celebrity endorsements have continued with Lena Headey reposting a painting I did of her as Queen Cersei, Game of Thrones, and commenting that I have “Mad Skills!”

“Robert Downey Jnr reposted my painting on Facebook commenting “Colour me Impressed!” and it received 137,000 likes within a week!”

“The World of Glass has really given me the motivation and encouragement to go for it as an Artist and that is exactly what I am doing.”

“St.Helens is such a fantastic place for an aspiring artist to work and progress I would encourage any other creatives from the area to go for it”
