Silver For Lucy After Her Return From Injury

The European Judo Open 2017 took place in Belgrade, Serbia at the weekend and it marked the return of Lucy Renshall to major competitions after being out with a knee injury for 7 months.

Lucy had already made an impressive start on her return to the mat at the beginning of this month when she took home the domestic Heart of England title in Walsall.

The European Open in Belgrade saw 239 athletes from more than 30 nations compete. For the first time the event has the status of European Open, compared to European Cup last year.

We spoke with Luxcy who said “It felt really good to be back fighting at this level”

“It wasn’t my best performance but I still managed to get through all my fights and come home with the silver which I’m really happy about”

In 2015 Lucy won three European Cups and took the British senior title. She then went on to win the European Open in Tallinn in 2016, followed by Silver at the Grand Prix in Qingdao. Then at the European Open in Glasgow she took the Gold. Earlier this year she took Silver at the European Open in Sofia before being injuured.

The Silver marks a great return to winning form and we cant wait to see what the future holds for her.
