Latest News From St Helens Striders Running Club

Another hectic yet successful week for St Helens Striders, starting in Palma, Majorca for one of the most anticipated weekends of the Strider calendar… all about the running of course! A team of Striders took on the sunshine and competed in the Palma half marathon and 10k races.

Jon-Jo Doherty was the first Strider to cross the line in the 10k race, finishing in 7th place in a time of 35 minutes and 5 seconds, whilst Joanne Jackson was the first female Strider to cross the line.

Paul Booth was the first male Strider to finish the half marathon, followed by Neil Hunter whilst Emma Callery was the first female Strider to finish, followed by running buddy, Wendy Davies.

The sun was also out in Birmingham for Scott Roberston and Strider coach, Ian Wright who competed in the Birmingham marathon. Scott bagged another PB to add to his collection this year, finishing the marathon in a very impressive 3 hours 11 minutes. Ian also bagged a PB, finishing in 3 hours 37 minutes.

Pete Medlicott took on the Manchester half marathon and finished in a PB time of 1 hour 40 minutes, whilst Paul Brown travelled back to his home town of Wales to compete in the Bartlett’s 10k in Farndon. Paul finished the race in 44 minutes 51 seconds, almost one minute faster than his previous 10k race time.
