Cultural Hubs is an award-winning “arts in libraries” project that brings a fantastic range of arts events into all St.Helens Libraries.
As part of the Spring 2018 season they are looking to fund local artists from St.Helens working in any visual or performing arts mediums to create a new project, performance or event to tie into their
Spring season of events and performances (Jan – March 2018).
They are particularly keen to receive submissions from artists who can create work to tie into the following key library events:
- Holocaust Memorial Day – http://hmd.org.uk/
- World Book Day – http://www.worldbookday.com/
- The 140th commemoration of the Haydock Colliery Explosion – http://www.old-merseytimes.co.uk/haydockexplosion1878.html
As part of the Cultural Hubs – Arts In Libraries Project, they have two opportunities for local creatives to show work in St.Helens Libraries.
Artist Commissions
This opportunity is for local artists working within any medium to create a new piece of work or project to be performed/created/exhibited or installed in Library(s) in St.Helens
More info and application form
Arts Groups
This opportunity is for local arts groups to display/perform or exhibit in our spaces – (this may be a pre-existing piece or work (a selection of songs, poetry or dances etc)
More info and application form
If you are interested in utilising the Library spaces in anyway please complete the forms and return to Owen Hutchings by 5pm on Thursday 19th October via email to owenhutchings@sthelens.gov.uk or in the post to Owen Hutchings, Chester Lane Library, Four Acre Lane, WA9 4DE.
If you have any questions, please contact Owen Hutchings on 01744 677087
*Please note*
Arts groups can apply for an Artist Commission (but only if the work/idea/project is a new piece of work that needs developing).
Visual arts groups and visual artists should note that there is very little space within our spaces to hang artworks, so please think creatively about how you would display your art works. An application to display a series of paintings directly onto a library wall for example will not be suitable to be selected.
The budget for this work is limited, so they will not be in a position to host all submitted ideas.
