Over £13,000 Raised In Memory Of Violet-Grace

The parents of Violet Grace Youens hope other families can benefit from the tragic loss of their daughter after revealing they’ve raised over £13,000 in her memory

The money’s split between Alder Hey and Whiston where staff cared for the 4 year old after she was struck by a hit and run driver earlier this year.

Glenn Youens said “We would like to announce that the final total for Ride-4-Violet-Grace is in…”

“After the whole community of St Helens, wider areas, the biker community, cycling community, pound for pound schemes, sponsor money and donations from local businesses, and everyone who took part; none of this would have been possible.”

“In loving memory of our little superhero Violet-Grace; the whole community and wider areas raised £13017.00. This has been divided between Whiston Hospital’s Children’s Wards and Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, £6508.50 each! Both hospitals treated Violet and battled to save her life. We think this is a fitting tribute to her memory and are pleased that you have all helped raise this in her name.”

“The money donated to Whiston Hospital Children’s Wards will help to buy toys, equipment and be used for training sessions.”

“The money donated to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital will go towards the new Alder Centre and the The Bereavement Suites.”

“The Alder Centre helps anyone dealing with the loss of a child. The Bereavement Suite is where Violet was looked after in the weeks after her passing and we were able to visit her everyday.”

“Violet-Grace you really have made such a massive difference in this world in such a short time. Many people have now signed The Organ Donation Register because of you.”

“In addition, The Sentencing Death By Dangerous Driving Debate, was discussed using evidence from many cases; including what those individuals did to you. You are one of many victims that helped to change the Law. Judges will now have an option to convict people found guilty of such crimes with life imprisonment. It is with hope that other families will feel some sort of justice will be served.”

“Love you to the stars and back baby girl. Mummy,Daddy and Oliver are so proud of you.”

“Looking forward to all the charity events in the pipeline for next year… keep your eyes peeled for the Violet-Grace fundraising Facebook page which will have all the information”
