TV funnyman Johnny Vegas recently joined over 130 guests at Willowbrook Hospice’s 20th Anniversary Dinner at St Helens Town Hall.
Johnny, whose father Laurence Pennington (known as Lol) was cared for at the Prescot-based hospice in March 2017, has recently praised the quality of care and support given to his dad and the rest of his family during interviews on chat show Loose Women and also Granada Reports.
After the event, Johnny tweeted:

The fundraiser, which raised over £4000, saw guests enjoy a fabulous 3 course dinner, followed by live entertainment from local 4 piece Marble Eyes.
During the evening, Willowbrook Chief Executive, Neil Wright, highlighted key developments during the hospice 20 years of caring, from the initial fundraising days right through to the present day. The support of St Helens Council was also recognised with the presentation of 20 red roses to the St Helens Mayor and Mayoress, Cllr Joe Pearson and his wife Sylvia – a tribute to the gifting of land from St Helens Council to the hospice for the ‘peppercorn rate’ of one red rose per year.
Nichola Saunders, Head of Fundraising at the Hospice says: “The Anniversary Dinner has been one of the highlights of our 20th anniversary year. Everyone had a wonderful night and it was lovely seeing so many people – hospice supporters old and new – coming together to recognise the great work the hospice does in caring for people across Knowsley and St Helens.”
