The latest exhibitions at The World of Glass Arts And Heritage centre have been announced.
Two Faced – A Solo Show by Eric Gaskell
Eric Gaskell studied fine art at Wigan and Sunderland, leaving college in 1980 with the Max Beckmann and Istanbul Summer School scholarships. Since then he has continued working in the creative industries, designing, teaching, illustrating and exhibiting. He has shown work in New York, Quebec, Ghent, Dublin, London and throughout the UK as both a painter and printmaker since the early 1980s and has work in many public collections. He has become well known for his linocuts, more particularly his work around the canals of the UK. His work, which is always colourful, splits quite sharply between the highly figurative and the more abstract, graphic world. This exhibition shows both of these faces; from the canals to the more abstract, genealogically researched work and more.
“The process of putting a picture together and the ethos of good draftsmanship is the linchpin between my painting and printmaking. My work is colourful and structured moving from tightly figurative to symbolic/iconographic work. In print I prefer linocut, its strong, flat colour and its physical mark-making suit my working methods and is a good partner to my painting. I like how its graphic appearance seems immediate but can actually take many days of work to produce.”

Going Solo – Malcolm Fryer
Malcolm Fryer was educated at Blackburn & Lancaster Schools of Art from 1958-1962, he later taught at Blackpool School of Art then became Curator at the Howarth Art Gallery.
Malcolm is represented in many public & private collections: Blackburn & Bolton Galleries, Salford Education Committee, Provincial Insurance Ltd, The Atkinson Art Gallery, Granada Television and many more.
Malcolm is listed in the Twentieth Century Painters & Sculptures, Volume VI by Frances Spalding.
‘’During my long experience of painting, I have attempted to reflect the atmosphere and essence of the things I see every day. My surrounding wherever they may have been, have provided the inspiration for my work, which has been a continual process of exploration. I compare myself to a musical composer who has to arrange different elements to create a successful piece. Sometimes this takes long periods of time’’.

The exhibitons will run from Saturday 11th November to Friday 12th January.
There will be an opening for Eric Gaskells exhibition on Sat 11th November at 1pm
