Local author and poet Sue Gerrard has a book launch at Wardleworths Bookshop next month.
Sue told us more, “In 2018, St. Helens, my home town, will celebrate its 150th anniversary. This book looks at the fascinating history of the town which began life as four townships with the Chapel of St. Elyn in the centre.”
“Included is the history of Windleshaw Chantry through to the discovery of coal and the town’s worldwide and unique place in the development of canals and railways.”
“It also looks at the town’s growth during the Industrial Revolution and the iconic locations within St. Helens.”
Everyone is invited to the book launch for St. Helens Now and Then: Celebrating the first 150 years of the town by Sue Gerrard on Saturday 9th December, 11am –12 noon , Wardleworths Bookshop, Westfield Street.
