All Different, All Equal – Care Home Supports Anti Bullying Week

This week, residents of Stocks Hall Care Home is Dentons Green have been working on a special art project to show their support for Anti Bullying Week 2017.

Anti bullying Week 2017 is held between the 13th and 17th November and is organised by Anti-Bullying Alliance. The event shines a spotlight on bullying and encourages supporters to take action against bullying throughout the year. The effects of bullying can have a massive impact on all individuals, whether that is at work, school or socially.

The group consisting of Ann, Joan, Paul, Brian, and Jimmy, who all live at the Home, with support from Laura Coghlan-Adam, Activities Staff worked together to create a fabulous poster that expresses uniqueness in Individuals.

Laura says “We looked at what makes us unique, who we love and why and what words describe us best.”

“We then looked at the butterfly and explored the journey it makes from being an egg to a caterpillar, living in a cocoon and then transforming into a beautiful butterfly with wings. We chose to colour each side of the wings differently as apposed to both being the same. Our idea behind this comes from how we see ourselves, to how others see us.”

Completing the poster the group decided on a very uplifting and positive quote, ‘Let your smile change the world but don’t let the world change your smile’.

Anyone has the potential to be bullied, some groups are more vulnerable and at greater risk of being targeted. It is really important that we understand the issues that many people face and focus on these when we raise awareness to prevent and tackle prejudice-driven bullying.

Stocks Hall Nursing & Care Group are proud to celebrate what makes us ‘all different, all equal’ and celebrate difference and equality. Every Person is Valued.
