Unemployed across St Helens are set to be helped into learning and work thanks to an employment support and training initiative from St Helens College, due to launch next month.
WorkWorld, which has been running successfully since 2012 in Knowsley, supports those that are out of work by delivering a range of support and courses. This has now also been launched in St Helens.
WorkWorld at St Helens College will offer job seekers and long term unemployed the opportunity to undertake free, short courses to improve their skills enabling them to apply for higher-level courses, or to improve employment prospects. Many of the courses on offer lead to nationally accredited qualifications. Courses on offer include digital and IT, English and maths, employability and health and social care.
Anne Pryer, Principal at St Helens College said: “The launch of WorkWorld in St Helens will give us the opportunity to develop an innovative way of engaging with people, offering them a range of information, expert guidance and support to help them find the right training and the right job. WorkWorld will offer an informal, relaxed atmosphere with plenty of support from friendly, experienced staff to help people to achieve their goals that will help them in to work.”
WorkWorld will work in partnership with Job Centre Plus who will refer people to the service.
