Yes, it’s that time again! The St Helens Youth Open Art Competition 2018 is now open.
The St.Helens Youth Open Art Competition showcases the brilliant and varied talents of the Borough’s younger artists aged up to 16 years old who live or study in St.Helens.
Currently in its sixth year, CulturEd, St. Helens Cultural Education Partnership is organising the event with The World of Glass.
St. Augustine’s is sponsoring an Audience Choice award, which will allow everyone who visits the exhibition in the first week to vote for their favourite piece of artwork. Vinyline is sponsoring the Graphic Art/Digital Media category
Also this year, to celebrate the town’s 150th Anniversary, they have introduced a category for artwork relating to St.Helens’ Heritage.
Works are welcomed across all mediums including drawing, glass, textiles, sculpture, painting, printmaking, mixed media, photography and digital media.
St Helens Council’s Cabinet Member for Public Health and Wellbeing – with responsibility for arts and culture – Councillor Gill Neal said: “The arts scene in St Helens is thriving, and fantastic competitions like this are certainly an ideal opportunity for our children and young people to showcase their artistic talents at the illustrious World of Glass Museum.
“I know that participation over the years has been strong and with this year marking the borough’s 150th anniversary – with arts and culture at the forefront of our celebration plans – I would encourage even more entrants to come forward to make it a milestone year to remember.”
The deadline for entries is 5th & 6th of March.
