John Donlon, an artist from Newton-Le-Willows, has seen 24 of his paintings hung on the walls of the YMCA hostel in St Helens Town Centre.
We spoke with john who told us more, “It came about as staff at the YMCA had seen some of my paintings, which they liked, and I was asked if I had 24 of them, which I replied I did. “
“I’ve been painting for a number of years now and I’ve been lucky enough that I have sold in the UK but also to Germany and Ireland. When they came to view the paintings I had chosen there were really pleased and we both agreed on a price.”
“I obviously gave all the paintings for a lower price because it was going to such a good cause, but more importantly for any artist to have an whole building full of their work is such a humble and amazing wish. It’s a bit like having your own art gallery.”
“They are having an open day seen with the Mayor soon and have invited me along.”
