The Liverpool City Region Tourism Awards has announced its shortlist to recognise excellence across the City Region’s tourism and hospitality industry, and it’s fantastic to see that Darkstar Laser has been shortlisted in three of the categories.
They are in the running for Best Small Visitor Attraction of the Year, Independent Tourism Business of the Year and Sam Harrison, a senior marshal at the venue has been shortlisted for Tourism Young Person of the Year.
Lynn Ben-Yousef from Darkstar Laser said, “This is such a fantastic achievement to be able to not only compete, but be shortlisted ahead of other amazing attractions across Merseyside.
“It is the perfect timing to shine a light on the towns tourism attractions and all of our achievements and assets at the heart of the town. Darkstar attrac’st over 80,000 visitors a year with 75% of those coming from outside the town.
“We are particularly pleased about Sam’s nomination, it is a fantastic opportunity to inspire young people in the workplace to meet their full potential. Sam Harrison, 18 years old, is one of only 6 young people in the whole city region to be shortlisted for the award, so to team Darkstar, he is already a winner!
“While it is very encouraging to see all the positive vibes around the regeneration of the town centre, I think it would be good to remind people that there are already great venues in this town.
“After an investment of £1.5 million in the height of the recession, we are still going strong and holding our own amongst what the whole of Merseyside has to offer.”
The awards ceremony also includes The People’s Choice Award. This is the only category voted for by the public, recognising tourism businesses achieving excellence in customer service across the Liverpool City Region.
