Saints Community Development Foundation have announced that Derek Hardman will be the Foundation’s Chaplain.
He takes up the role with immediate effect and will be looking to work closely with local churches, community centres and charities to further enhance the Foundation’s contribution within our own community.
Foundation Director, Steve Leonard, stated: “It all came about when we were both in Australia on the Academy tour. Derek wanted to discuss a few things and had some ideas of his own that he wanted to explore. I have known him a long time and know first-hand the good work he and many other from his church do within the wider community.
“He is a person who wants to make a difference and will go the extra mile to make things happen. He is just the right person, at just the right time for us to make this step forward.”
Derek added: “Over in Australia, Steve and I discussed the prospect of me becoming the Foundation’s Chaplain. I was exploring the idea of taking up a missionary role abroad, but Steve spoke of the amount of good work he believes can be done on our own door step.
“Once we listened to each other’s ideas and I understood what the Foundation was seeking to achieve, it became clear to me that I wanted to play a part. My faith is important to both my family and me and this opportunity gives me the chance to stay close to home but still be out making a difference to people’s lives by just being there for them.
“I am really looking forward to taking up the Chaplain role for the Foundation and getting out and about around the community, listening to people and organisations on how best the Foundation can assist in the good work already being done.”
