St Helens Hockey Club are holding an Open day/practice on Saturday 23rd June and they’d like to invite anybody down to give hockey a go.
If you’ve played before, currently play or have never held a stick – they’d like to see as many down as possible as we look to bring new players into the club.
They’ll provide all the equipment , you just need to turn up!
The structure on the day will be fairly relaxed with drills & exercises aimed at all abilities -nothing too serious!
There’s no pressure or expectation for anybody to come back, hopefully you’ll want to do that after giving it a go, the idea is just to give people a chance to try it out and get to know the team if you’re interested in playing next season.
The team currently has a wide range of players with different backgrounds – many have come to train having never played before, rugby players, footballers etc and they’ve taken to it in no time.
The long term aim for the club is to introduce a second team, to do that they need players. So if you think you fancy a go, come along and please share the event!
In terms of age, they’re currently just a senior team so over 16’s only unfortunately.
The event takes place on Saturday 23rd June at Selwyn Jones Sports Centre, Ashton Road, WA12 0AG Newton-le-Willows, from 1pm to 4pm.
