Funding available to increase participation in sports (deadline 31st October 2018)

In association with Postcode Community Trust, Localgiving is offering local charities and community groups the opportunity to apply for Magic Little Grants of £500 to deliver physical activities that will overcome barriers to participation in sports and recreation.

Projects benefitting from funding will either overcome barriers to participation in physical activities in creative ways or increase social cohesion through developing access to sports and other recreational activities.

Grants can be used to support the general running costs of new and existing sports and physical activities.

For example, this could include:

• Facilities hire

• Kit & equipment

• Coaching qualifications

• Other volunteer expenses

The fund is open to charitable organisations with an annual income of under £50,000 and priority will be given to organisations with an annual income under £20,000. Applicants must be operating within Great Britain (excluding Northern Ireland).

The application process is open to the 31st October 2018 to all members of Localgiving that meet the criteria.

Organisations that are not already a member of Localgiving are required to complete the Localgiving registration process before completing the application and, if successful, will also be awarded 12 months membership.

In the last funding round, £100,000 as grants of £250 and £500 was awarded to 205 local charities and community groups through the Magic Little Grants Programme. A wide variety of groups were supported ranging from exercise classes for stroke survivors to outdoor, adventure activities for disadvantaged young people.
