Sainsbury’s giving out ten times as many Nectar points

There’s nothing more satisfying than cashing in your loyalty points after your shop. Whether you save them up for Christmas, or get bonus discounts as you go, people love a bit of free money.

There’s great news for Nectar card holders, as supermarket giant Sainsbury’s has just announced that it will be massively boosting the amount of Nectar points it dishes out.

From now until next month (July 11th), Sainsbury’s will give you ten times as many Nectar points as usual when you buy products from their holiday and summer ranges.

Sadly, the same bonus scheme won’t apply to your entire weekly shop (imagine!), but it does include some foodie bits, such as items from their Taste of Summer food range, which includes plenty of barbecue classics like British pork and pepper kebabs, chicken tights and pork ribs.

There’s also few everyday essentials involved, such as toothpaste, dry shampoo and sun cream, so you should be able to pick up some bonus points even without deviating from your standard weekly shop.

All your bonus points will be automatically added to the till when you scan it like usual.

When there’s no Nectar offers on, Sainsbury’s usually gives you one Nectar point, worth 0.5p, for every £1 you spend in their store.

However, with the ten times bonus offer, you’ll now get 5p worth of points for every £1 you spend on the selected products – meaning you’d usually have to spend £20 instead to get the same £1 back in points.

James Moir, Nectar managing director, said: “Summer is all about getting out and about and making the most of the sunshine.

By boosting customers’ point balances during this busy four-week period we hope to give them everything they need for an unforgettable break.

There are offers to cover every occasion, so no matter how you plan on spending the sunny season, there will be something for you.”
