We are big fans of Delamere Forest in Cheshire, it’s a fantastic place to check out, with lots going on. It’s what Bold Forest Park in St Helens could be like. Below are the latest updates on things to do.
Children can take part in the Gruffalo Orienteering trail. Children will use a simple map to try and find twelve Gruffalo markers. Once they’ve found each marker they need to answer the question in their Gruffalo orienteering leaflet. The Gruffalo orienteering leaflet with certificate and a course map is available to buy from the forest for £1.50. For more information please visit https://www.forestry.gov.uk/gruffalo-orienteering . They’ll also find a Gruffalo Sculpture along the route!
Delamere are also hosting a couple of fencing activity sessions in the forest on 6th August. Sessions will run for 40 mins and children aged 4 – 12 years old are welcome to join. ‘Want the kids to get outdoors and try something new? Well now’s your chance! Forestry Commission England are offering a number of sessions in partnership with British Fencing and Premier for children aged 4-12 years old at various woods across the country’. To book your place, please visit http://info.premier-education.com/fencing-in-the-forest.
For other local events at Delamere, it might be worth looking at their education partner’s website, Forest Explorers (http://www.forest-explorers.co.uk/events/category/family-events/ ). There are activities such as the Forest Holiday Club, Treemendous Tuesday Tales and Forest Fairies.
