There were personal best’s (PB’s) galore for the Striders at the Sefton Park 5 miler writes Jon-Jo Doherty.

Joanne Mercer produced yet another terrific performance with a PB of 51:17, and the same said of Zoe Fillingham with a PB of 47:59.

Karen Mason careered effortlessly around the course, delighting her legions of followers with yet another PB in 51:09. Jane Marshall in her first appearance at Sefton Pk, dug in and sharply set home in 43:23.

And in his first outing as a Strider, Nigel Herbert, nicknamed ‘Herbie’, went off like a song with a PB of 47:47!

Windmill Half Marathon

Not content with his success at Sefton Pk; the ever relentless ‘Herbie’, completed the Windmill Half Marathon in 2:25; he stated that ‘the heat was brutal, but my fellow Striders conjured me up to finish off, when I felt I was dead in the water.’

Hawarden Trail 10k

Hannah Whittaker landed herself 3rd placed lady in North Wales; at the prestigious Hawarden Trail 10k. Her two daughters Niamh and Saoirse were greatly impressed by her quick pace and relentless efforts!

The 40km Scaffell Sky Race

The 40km Scaffell Sky Race took place on Sunday, and the Striders very own Kevin Brennan took on what was a purely mountain based race with 3000m of vertical gain.

It is a technical race and uses a multitude of single-track. Brennan who is well known for his tenacity and never say die attitude pulled off a staggering feat in 08:04:48
