Rainhill High footballers selected for regional team

For any school to have just one of their students make the regional football team, is a great achievement, so when you consider that, no less than eight boys from Rainhill High School have made the squad for the newly amalgamated Knowsley St. Helens Secondary District Football Team, it’s an absolutely incredible accomplishment.

Rainhill is obviously no stranger to football success with Liverpool FC first team regular, Trent Alexander Arnold and Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling both ex-students of the popular school.

Jayden Danns, Josh Davis, Billy Fletcher, Mikey Jayman, Michael Lafferty, Nathan Mercer, Jack Pilkington and Reece Williams now have the opportunity to play in National Competitions against other district teams from England and Wales.

Tony James, a spokesperson for Knowsley and St Helens FA said,
“Each of the boys have demonstrated a fantastic attitude and an outstanding manner during all our trials and matches and have proved to be fantastic ambassadors for Rainhill High and St. Helens as a Local Authority”

John Pout, Executive Principal of Rainhill said “Congratulations to the boys for their selection for their regional team. They have done really well. They are clearly talented footballers who have worked hard to build on this latent ability.

“Our PE teachers are superb in terms of the quality and quantity of what they offer in lessons, and extra-curricular clubs and teams. It is no wonder that they are helping to produce the next generation of exciting footballers”
