Willowbrook Hospice has scooped two prestigious North West in Bloom awards for the high standards of its grounds and gardens. As well as achieving the Gold Award in the Hospice category, the Prescot based hospice gardens were also presented with the Best Hospice Award 2018.
‘North West in Bloom’ is part of the Royal Horticultural Society’s national ‘Britain in Bloom Awards’. The awards encourage local communities to improve their environment through the imaginative use of trees, flowers and landscaping.
Hospice Gardener Dee Newey said: “It’s a fantastic achievement to win the Best Hospice Award this year in addition to the Gold Award in our category. The awards are a testament to the hard work and dedication that the garden team put in all year round, most of which are volunteers. The grounds at Willowbrook are immaculate and there’s always something of interest to look at, no matter what the season.
Neil Wright Chief Executive of the hospice said “We are delighted to win the two awards from North West in Bloom. Dee and her team of volunteers work incredibly hard all year round to ensure that the grounds are colourful, welcoming and offer a tranquil open space for our staff, volunteers and all those who use our services.”
