Corrie star joins comedy and cabaret party line-up celebrating end of St Helens 150

Comedian, TV presenter (Channel 5’s Celebs On The Farm and ITV1’s Zoe Ball On Saturday & Sunday) and Coronation Street actor Stephen Bailey will join a stellar line-up for Heart of Glass’ final event of the year A Royal Wrap Party on Thursday 13th December at The Citadel.

The FREE ticketed party will be hosted by Royal Television Society nominated Eggs Collective, Heart of Glass’ ‘Party Political Artists in Residence’, a trio of performers described by The New York Times as creating “salty work at the boundaries of theater and cabaret, often offering sly satire under a veil of sweetness.”

Bailey, whose whose friendly and open brand of gossipy humour has made him one of the most sought after acts in UK comedy today, recently supported Katherine Ryan and Jenny Eclair on their UK tours and will embark on his own brand new solo tour in spring 2019.

The night will also feature performances from St Helens’ own Kitty O’Shea and a drum troupe from OLC Productions. There will be competitions, crown making with Manchester’s Mighty Heart, an interactive stall with visual artist Amy Pennington and a well stocked bar, plus a disco with dance floor classics from DJ MissBaxter2U.

The celebratory Royal Wrap Party marks the end of the St Helens 150th year and ‘Borough of Culture’. It will also mark 100 years since the first women were granted the right to vote, 70 years of St Helens partnership with Stuttgart and commemorated 100 years since the end of WWI.

Eggs Collective said “We’ve had such a fantastic year in St Helens as Party Political Artists in Residence.

“We’ve met brilliant, creative people in our high street pop up shop, danced through the streets to celebrate the Unsung Heroes of the borough in the St Helens Day Citizens’ Parade, been thoroughly out-karaoked and even persuaded a hall full of dignitaries to play the kazoo.

“The Royal Wrap Party feels like the perfect way to end the year: a fabulous party packed with comedy, music and prizes, with a generous dash of glitter thrown in for good measure.

“So strap on your dancing shoes, St Helens – we’ll see you there!”

Angy Williams Lead Producer said “Over 60,000 people have been part of this 150th anniversary / Borough of Culture. We’re inviting all the groups, individuals and artists who’ve made this year so special to join us at the Royal Wrap Party.

“It’s a chance for everyone to let their hair down and celebrate an incredible year of culture made with communities and artists working together, as well as a chance to plot exciting new projects for 2019 and beyond.”

Doors will open at 7:30pm, the bar will be open, guests can come in mingle at The Citadel before the show begins.
