St. Helens Sutton Vets take on the Four Villages
This weekend saw a small but courageous team of St. Helens Sutton Vets take on the 36th running of the classic Four Villages Half Marathon on what was a cold winter morning.
First home and 4th overall as well as first veteran over 35 was Gemma Connolly (1:21.35) coming back from a string of injuries which have hampered her training over the last 6 months. Next back was Barry Graney (1:31.42), followed by John Appleton (1:46.39) who finished 4th vet over 65.
The next Sutton lady home was Laura Bunting in an impressive PB knocking over four minutes off her personal best, running 1 hour 47minutes and 48 seconds. Pam Appleton (2:04.32) was next back finishing 3rd female vet over 65, and the team was rounded out by Linda White in 2 hours 12 minutes.
Pam Appleton said “it was a great day out for the team, with an as always superbly organised race, but we were all very glad to get into the warm and get our free cup of tea after!”
