If you think you have what it takes to become a firefighter you can now apply to be part of Merseyside Fire and Rescue service.
The fire service is currently recruiting for trainee firefighters to join its dedicated task force. On its website the service said it is looking for “people with the right skills and experience who are just as passionate as we are in working to make the communities of Merseyside safer and stronger”.
Aspiring firefighters will need to undergo a physical assessment, swimming test and interviews to qualify for the role.
Whatever your background, anyone aged 18 and over can apply for the role with no previous firefighter training necessary.
Applicants must have GCSE grade C or above (4-9) in Maths and English or Level 2 Functional Skills Maths and English, alternatively you can choose to undergo online tests in numeracy and literacy to apply.
There are no height restrictions for the job, however all applicants must be aged a minimum of 18 at the date of appointment and hold a full driving license.
Applicants must also be able to complete a series of physical tests to test strength and cardiovascular capacity.
The full time uniformed role is a permanent full time contract. The training courses start in September 2019 with an annual salary of £22,908 which will rise to £30,533 per annum when you are competent.
Physical assessments will take place between 23rd March and 6th April 2019 with assessment centre work on various dates in April and May 2019.
Further swimming tests will happen from 3rd to 7th June 2019 and final interviews will take place between the 10th and 18th June 2019.
Applicants do not need to live in Merseyside to apply for the role, however if successful you will be required to be resident in Merseyside when you start your Firefighter training course.
