It’s the ultimate story of comradeship. Andy Reid, 42, from St Helens, was an Army corporal when he lost an arm and both legs after stepping on a improvised explosive device (IED) in Afghanistan back in 2009. Alex Kemp, then 18, rushed to his aid with tourniquets and dressings to stem catastrophic bleeding.
Almost a decade later Andy spotted a Facebook post from Alex, who had since suffered chronic PTSD and become homeless. Andy was then able to to return the favour and save the man who had saved his life, by helping Alex find his feet again.
