Following up a record-breaking 2018 season, Jon-Jo Doherty looks set for a storming 2019 of racing after breaking the 5km club record at the Willowbrook 5km event on Saturday. Doherty completed the race in a blistering time of 16:04. He now has his sights set on a sub-16 minute 5k time, an achievement which, judging by his incredible form, should not be too far away.
On the weekend of St David’s Day, two Striders travelled to Wales to compete in the very undulating Anglesey half-marathon on Sunday. In his inaugural outing in a Strider vest, Dave Lynch completed his first half-marathon in an excellent time of 1hr50. Ian Jones followed him to the finish line in a time of 2hrs18 and was delighted to make it back before Storm Freya hit.
Proving that the Striders are unafraid of a challenge, Chris Reid competed in the notoriously difficult and hilly Trotters 5 Mile Trail in Bolton. Finishing in a phenomenal time of 36.09, he was rewarded by achieving 3rd place in his age category.
