This week saw St. Helens Sutton A.C. runners take to the trails and road over distances from the relatively short and fast 5km to the mighty marathon.

Thursday night saw the first of the Horwich 5km Trail Race Serie take place and two Sutton Vets where on hand to put in some strong performances, Mark Liptrot finished an impressive 10th in 21:33, while Phil Robinson trading in his pole vaulting for the mountains put in a great run to finish 39th in 24:29.

Saturday saw the mighty Jon-Jo Doherty make his debut performance in his St. Helens Sutton A.C. vest as he stormed to a 46 second victory while equalling his 5km personal best of 16 minutes at the Halewood Willowbrook 5k.

Sunday an array of St. Helens runners took to the streets of Manchester to take part in the Manchester Marathon alongside them where three Sutton athletes. Barry Graney had a great run finishing in 3 hours 39 minutes 19, while the dynamic duo of Rachel Beesley and Wilcock just missed out on dipping under the 4-hour barrier after the sun and heat hit at mile 16 onwards, both running 4:05.52.
