Rainford based vegetable specialists T Wilson & Sons are to supply Aldi with potatoes after being introduced to York based potato packer RS cockerill by the Supermarket chain.
The businesses have come together to market two British potato varieties, Gemson and Maris Peer. They will work together to supply 50 tonnes of potatoes to Aldi’s 159 North West stores every week.
Julie Ashfield, managing director of buying at Aldi UK, added: “RS Cockerill’s range of potatoes has proven incredibly popular since we began working with them, and the new partnership with T Wilson & Sons will mean that even more customers will be able to enjoy their produce.
“Building longstanding relationships with British suppliers has been key to our growth, so we’re delighted that we’ve been able to help this family-run business on their incredible journey so far, and look forward to continuing our work with them in the future.”
