Fiver Fest celebrates local businesses, often run by families or individuals, making a real contribution to our local economy town.
Spending your hard-earned money in the place you live helps to boost the local economy and increase employment.
The idea comes from Totally Locally’s campaign to show the huge impact of people spending just £5 per week in their local independent shops can have across the UK’s High Streets.
Totally Locally was originally founded in West Yorkshire in 2009. The campaign’s founder Chris Sands said: “Totally Locally isn’t anti-supermarket or anti-internet. There is a place for all these things in our lives. It’s just highlighting how a small change in spending habits can make a huge change to the places where we live.
“We have a choice to make the place we live that little bit better by just diverting £5 of our weekly spend back into our local economy. And everyone wants their town to be great, don’t they?”
Fiver Fest takes from Saturday, October 5 to Saturday October 12.
If you are a small business owner in the borough then create a £5 promotional offer to promote during this time.
