St Helens Council Leader David Baines said “The council is committed to helping provide and promote activities in St Helens and Earlestown town centres for families to enjoy.

“While we’re committed to making significant future investment in both to improve the offer and range of activities available, it’s important we don’t ignore or fail to support the many terrific existing businesses already here.

“As Christmas approaches we’re going to support our local shops by offering free Saturday parking in St Helens – in addition to that already available in Earlestown – and we hope this will help to give a boost to hardworking local businesses.”
