Design The Big Issue’s Christmas Cover!

Are you – or do you know – a talented young artist? The Big Issue’s annual competition to design one of their festive magazine covers is now open.

Since the first competition in 2013 they’ve seen thousands of brilliant, jolly and bright entries from young readers. The winning images have lifted the spirits of customers and boosted sales for vendors.

This year, with the country divided by politics, they are asking for entries around the theme ‘together’.

Designs can take any form, from drawings to paintings to digital art. So have pens, pencils, crayons, tablets at the ready.

Apart from the winning design being on the front of a magazine sold across the UK in its tens of thousands, The Big Issue will also be offering a special prize for the best group entry – from a school or nursery class, or any other creative group of youngsters who send in a bundle of entries. So tell parents, teachers and youth workers to get involved.

“I can’t wait to see all of the entries filling postbags,” said Big Issue editor Paul McNamee. “The Kids Cover Competition has become a tradition we look forward to each year. Big Issue vendors have a hard time on the streets in wintertime but nothing lifts spirits more than the incredible ideas that are sent in to us.

“A big thank you to all those who take the time to enter, all to help The Big Issue vendors. It’s hugely humbling and encouraging. Settling on a winner is a very tough task. Don’t delay. Get your entry in today!”

Anyone aged 13 or under is eligible to enter. The magazine print as many entries as they can squeeze into the magazine’s pages and all entries will feature in their spectacular online gallery. Unfortunately, they can’t return artwork.

Post your entries to: Christmas Kids Cover Competition,The Big Issue, 43 Bath Street, Glasgow, G2 1HW by the deadline of 27th November

NB Make sure you include a name, age, address and telephone or email contact on all entries.
