Mud Madness For St. Helens Sutton A.C.
Saturday saw the second Manchester area XC league held a Kenworthy Woods, and a mass of Sutton A.C. athletes braved the mud to showcase the talent.
First up were the U11’s and in the boys race the two teams finished 9th and 16th, the U13 Boys team finished 11th while the girls were 16th and in the U15 girls the team came 12th. There was a great turnout amongst the younger age groups, with 8 new members braving the mud for the first time, Nicole Anders, Eilijah and Ethan Colley, Harry Griffiths, Ben Genner, Niamh Worthington, Taylor Massey and Tom Sumner.
In the U17 men Charlie Roberts was just 4 seconds down on the leader taking second overall, while Micheal Brussells had a strong run to make up the U17 duo. In the senior men Ste Anders was first home for the team, followed by Chris Birkett, Andy Wilson and Ian Roberts, giving the team some great point to finish 18th out of 60 teams in the league.

St. Helens Sutton A.C. formally known as Sutton Harriers St. Helens, is one of the oldest athletic clubs in the country established in 1899.
Sutton A.C. is open to all ages and abilities meeting at Sutton Leisure Centre track at 6:15pm every Tuesday and Thursday evening.
There is an adults beginners group suitable for those just starting out and the kids Acorn beginners group for those aged 8 upwards, there is a waiting listing for juniors so it is worth contacting the club via their Facebook page.
St Helens Sutton has seen many internationals and Olympians compete for them over the years, and the coaches and officials are always ready to help every athlete reach their full potential.
