Local school pupils spread happiness and raise funds for vital supplies

Children and young people across St Helens Borough are taking part in a competition to spread happiness and raise funds for vital food and supplies for local vulnerable people.

Local primary and secondary schools are encouraging their pupils to show off their creative talents by challenging them to create a piece of artwork or write a poem related to the theme of happiness.

Pupils can submit their master pieces to their school, who will then make a donation to the #StHelens Together appeal fund.

The appeal has been set up by St Helens Council and Torus Foundation, the charitable arm of the social housing partner, Torus, to raise funds to buy food and supplies for those in need in St Helens, either because they are self-isolating and are unable to go out for supplies or because they have lost their source of income due to the current crisis.

Competition entries must be submitted via schools, who will make a donation to the appeal fund and submit entries for judging. Winning entries will be shared on social media, and winners will receive gift vouchers to spend in a store of their choice.

Closing date for entries is Friday 1 May.

If you would like to make a donation you can Text STHELENS to 70085 to donate £2. Texts cost £2 plus one standard rate message.

Donations can also be made via www.spacehive.com/st-helens-together
