You don’t need to splash out on an expensive camera to take an award-worthy photograph these days, as an online workshop will prove later this month.
Beyond the Selfie: Portrait photography for smartphones and tablets will explore a range of portrait photography techniques and how you can capture the perfect picture on your smartphone or tablet.
The free workshop – run by Hayley Trowbridge, who has over a decade of experience working in digital arts and media and has held similar sessions in libraries across the North West – is part an on-going project that is developing an inclusive and exciting digital arts strategy for St Helens Libraries Service.
“I’m hoping that the workshop will be an opportunity for people who are getting a bit down with staying at home or who are nervous with technology to have a dabble with digital arts, get creative, connect with others and generally have a couple of hours of fun,” Hayley said.
During the two-hour tutorial – open to anyone over the age of 16 regardless of previous experience – you will learn about basic photography techniques, such as framing and free editing tools that can help you to give your photos an individual style, as well as take and edit some self-portraits from the comfort of your own home.
Beyond the Selfie: Portrait photography for smartphones and tablets will take place via Zoom on Friday 29 May between 10:00am-12:00pm.
