Motorists advised of overnight road closures

Motorists are advised that A58 Liverpool Road will be closed at it’s junction with A580 East Lancashire Road from 6am Saturday 11th July until 5am Monday 13th July for repairs to a collapsed drain.

During the works, access to properties will be maintained and a diversion route will be in place – with a dedicated traffic management crew on hand throughout the duration.

There will be a series of night time closures week commencing 13th July on the A580 eastbound and westbound, along with Liverpool Road and Stanley Bank Way. These closures will be between the hours of 8pm-6am to allow duct crossings to be installed as part of the Pewfall Junction Improvement Scheme.

Monday 13th July – A580 Eastbound & Liverpool Rd

Tuesday 14th July – A580 Eastbound, Liverpool Rd & Stanley Bank Way

Wednesday 15th July – A580 Westbound & Stanley Bank Way

Thursday 16th July – A580 Westbound & Stanley Bank Way

Friday 17th July – A580 Westbound or Eastbound TBC

Diversions will be in place and disruption will be kept to a minimum.

Work on Pewfall Junction, which is undergoing a transformation to increase junction capacity in all directions – and improve safety through dedicated pedestrian and cycle crossings – is progressing well and construction has continued during the coronavirus pandemic, in line with government guidelines.

Pewfall Junction Improvement Scheme is being funded by the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority’s Local Growth Fund through a £2.6m investment, with local developers contributing £500,000. St Helens Council will fund the remaining balance to help support economic growth and employment opportunities in the borough.

Local Growth Funding is awarded to the Liverpool City Region Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) and invested through the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority’s Strategic Investment Fund.

The whole scheme is expected to be completed by late September 2020.
